Aether is an interactive system that allows the creation of a continuous flow of an unlimited number of images through any number of computers connected through the Internet. The connected computers may have different screen resolutions and hardware setups and they can join or leave at any time. The presented images may be stored locally or at an http server and may be accompanied by short (e.g., a caption) and long descriptions. Users can select an image to see it in larger size / higher resolution, along with its caption. Additionally, they can flip it to access the longer description.

Currently, user interaction is supported through:

  • The mouse
  • (Multi) touch screens
  • Hand gestures
  • Multitouch on any surface, e.g., walls, real tables
  • Blowing (using a standard microphone)

Additional images may be added to the flow dynamically at any time, using a dedicated client, or simply by dragging and dropping them directly from a web browser. Individual installations may be started, stopped and updated remotely.
Aether is available for Windows 7, 8, 10, Android and iOS.
