An interactive art installation that aims to evoke emotion through the combination of digital projection, motorized motion and motion sensing.
BEHOLDER, an experimental interactive art installation that explores how to (and if we can) evoke emotion through a combination of digital projection, motorized motion and motion sensing. The installation comprises 2 projectors that project a video on a rotating surface. The projected video, a blinking human eye, is constantly distorted, so that it always looks ‘correct’ irrespectively of the rotation of the surface. Using multiple distance sensors human presence is detected. Using this information, the surface rotates to “face” the closest person. The installation can work in 180o and 360o degrees, while multiple projection surfaces may also be supported.
