The Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory of ICS-FORTH in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Heraklion designed and implemented two (2) digital applications for the project “Digital Tour Guide to the Palace of Knossos and the archaeological wealth of the regional unit of Heraklion”. More specifically, HCI has developed:
- An interactive web-based Timeline that aims to allow users to navigate through the most significant historical milestones of the Regional Unit of Heraklion in chronological order during ancient times, with additional information on its archaeological monuments. - An Augmented Reality Application presenting 3D simulated archaelogical points of interest in the Archaeological Site of Knossos. Using augmented reality technology, the application transforms a large printed map into a digital tour experience in the palace of Knossos.
