A mobile application that aims to create a rich museum touring experience that escorts the user during their visit to a museum, an archeological space and so on. Users have access to rich textual and visual information of presented points of interests as well as guidance among exhibition areas. Augmentation of selected points of interest is supported using the state of art in the domain of Augmented Reality Technologies. Through the phone’s camera, selected artifacts can come to live by presenting multimedia graphics or animated 3D models. The application supports Bluetooth beacons or QR Code scanning for exhibit identification. Bluetooth beacons can also be used for user localization. Last, the application can be used in open areas by supporting geolocation anchoring in order to provide users with tour guidance and information regarding areas of interest.
