The Museum is made up of a cluster of buildings in the central square of the historical village of Varvari, known as Myrtia. The Museum Exhibition is housed on a site formerly occupied by the home of the Anemoyiannis family, which was related to Nikos Kazantzakis’ father, Kapetan Michalis.

Two (2) interactive systems have been installed for the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum:

  • Infocloud comprises a collection of keywords, images and video thumbnails displayed on a large touch screen. The information presented in a constant flow is consisted of quotes, poems, novels, travel books, postcards  and inspired guides of Nikos Kazantzakis during his continuous work. When a word/image is selected, an information window opens, which may contain an image or video clip accompanied by a short textual description. All selected items can be freely moved and tossed around, as well as magnified or shrunk using multi touch gestures.
  • Interactive Quiz  is installed in the Museum café as part of the educational activities programme. The Quiz game is an interactive educational game that engages players to collaborate with their team and achieve the highest score by answering questions related to a specific theme. The Quiz game comprises wireless controllers each having four colored buttons connected to a large display.
