Coin-O-Rama

An interactive system designed to explore the coins or other round objects included in related physical exhibitions

Coin-O-Rama is an interactive system designed to explore the coins or other round objects included in related physical exhibitions. Users can retrieve information about coins such as the location and date of origin and so on. At the same time, the system allows users to create their own personalized digital coin, which they are able to send via email. Users can interact with the system with the following ways:

(a) Selection of a city of origin and presentation of its coins.

(b) Creation of a personalized, digital coin.

After selecting a city on the map the corresponding coin collection is presented, accompanied by a short description, while at the bottom of the screen additional information is displayed. When users select a coin, it emerges in a playful way on the left side of a specially designed case and it is illustrated on two round projection areas, one for each side of the coin. At the same time, relevant information of the selected coin is presented on the main screen (i.e., place and date of origin, etc.). Moreover, a mini map at the bottom of the screen illustrates the location where the selected currency was found.

In addition, Coin-O-Rama provides users the opportunity to create a personalized digital coin with their engraved form on it. More specifically, by selecting the camera icon from the interface, a dedicated area for the image capture is highlighted, indicating where users need to stand in order to take a picture. When the system captures the users’ face on a coin, then they are able to send the photo to their email address.
